About Us

The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council (JPNC) is a volunteer organization that brings together Jamaica Plain’s diverse community to make decisions and recommendations regarding development, service delivery, and other public issues in our shared neighborhood, strengthening the entire community’s opportunity to participate directly and fully in governing neighborhood affairs. Since its founding in 1985, the JPNC has worked to increase and improve communication between the entire Jamaica Plain community, the City of Boston, and other public agencies and parties.

Elections to the 20-member council are held every two years, with members representing three different geographic areas and Jamaica Plain in its entirety. Council meetings are typically held on the last Tuesday of each month and are open to the public. We encourage members of the community to become involved by attending these meetings, proposing agenda items, speaking on current topics, and joining the Council’s different working committees.
